UNIDO and CATL Sign Joint Declaration

On August 11, 2026, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and CATL signed a Joint Declaration in Beijing. They reached an agreement for cooperation on the circular economy and green industrial development in advanced battery fields, reaching consensus on promoting global sustainable industrial development. Zou Ciyong, Deputy to the Director General and Managing Director of UNIDO, and Meng Xiangfeng, Vice President of CATL, signed the declaration on behalf of both parties. 

The partnership is centered on accelerating the global green energy transition, with a focus on three areas: 

● Transferring Industrial Experience into Demonstratable Projects: The cooperation will translate experience from CATL into industrial projects that could potentially be replicated in other markets, share advanced battery technologies, green-energy innovation, and scale up sustainable industrial demonstration projects internationally.

● Promoting Standards Based Market Development: The partnership will advance standards-driven industrial development and policy coordination to facilitate rule-based sustainable international market access. 

● Developing an international low-carbon platform: The two sides will establish  "Global Circular Energy and Low-Carbon Center" to foster sustainable industrial development and accelerate the global green energy transition.

Moving forward, CATL and UNIDO will continue to leverage their respective strengths in policy guidance and industrial innovation, driving circular economy development through technological innovation while continuously exploring innovative pathways for the energy transition.
