History

2021

Put Yibin production base into operation.


Completed the layout of Innovation Center, Future Energy Research Institute and Lingang production base in Shanghai.


Established a joint lab with the Institute of Physics Chinese Academy of Sciences.


Co-founded the Future Technology Institute with Shanghai Jiao Tong University.



2020

SNE Research:CATL ranked No.1 globally in EV battery consumption volume.


Established two energy storage joint ventures with the State Grid Integrated Energy Service Group under the State Grid.


Successfully delivered phase Ⅰ of Jinjiang 100 MWh Energy Storage Power Station Project - the largest indoor stationary energy storage system in China.


Established 21C Lab.



2019

Established joint ventures with Geely Auto Group and FAW Group respectively.


Led the establishment of the National Engineering Research Center for Electrochemical Energy Storage Technology.


2018

Listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.


Put Liyang production base into operation.


Established joint ventures with Dongfeng Motor and GAC Group respectively. 


Successfully delivered Luneng 100MWh energy storage station project-China's largest centralized electrochemical energy storage station regarding power generation at the time.


2017

SNE Research: CATL ranked No.1 globally in EV battery consumption volume.


Established wholly-owned subsidiaries in France, USA, Canada and Japan.


Established joint ventures with SAIC Motor.


2016

Established the CATL Academician and Specialist Workstation.



2015

Acquired Brunp Recycling to start the development in battery recycling and regenerating.

2014

Established CATG in Germany, the company's wholly-owned subsidiary.

2013

Established Xining production base.


Developed EV batteries for the world's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Yutong.


2012

Started strategic partnership with BMW.


2011

Establishment of CATL, a new endeavor started by the founding team.


Participated in the construction of  Zhangbei energy storage project - the largest wind and solar energy storage and transmission in the world at the time.


1999

The founding team established ATL, which is the world's leading company in the field of lithium-ion batteries for consumer electronics (CE).
