Dr. Robin Zeng Becomes Honorary Dean of Future Technology Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University

On August 19, the Future Technology Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was officially inaugurated. Dr. Robin Zeng, chairman of CATL, was awarded the honorary dean title of the Future Technology Institute, and Professor Jun Ni, chief manufacturing officer of CATL, became the first dean.


Lijuan Mao, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Yaoming Ni, secretary of the Minhang district party committee, Yujian Chen, deputy secretary of the Minhang district party committee and head of Minhang district, Zhenbin Yang, secretary of the party committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhongqin Lin, president and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Kuiling Ding, executive vice president and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other leaders attended the ceremony.

The Future Technology Institute will offer two majors, which are sustainable energy and health science and technology. The major of sustainable energy will focus on interdisciplinary research on the industrial chain of future energy technologies, promote the effective interconnection of the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing technology and new energy technologies, realize the intelligent and digital management of energy systems, and promote temporal and spatial coordination and innovative business models for large-scale mobile energy systems. The faculty of the Future Technology Institute consists of domestic and foreign high-quality staffs who have important influence in cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and future technologies, and the faculty will establish several international cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and teaching platforms.


CATL will join forces with the Future Technology Institute to integrate various high-quality resources, build the laboratories required for teaching and set up a mentor system both in academia and enterprises, providing students opportunities to carry out scientific research and gain experience in enterprises, building an in-depth university-enterprise cooperation model.
