On September 13, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL) signed three cooperation agreements in Yichun. CATL signed a cooperation agreement with the Yichun municipal government to jointly build a new lithium-ion battery production base. CATL also signed a cooperation agreement with Yichun Mining Co., Ltd., and signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with Hozon New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. to develop the whole industrial chain. Zhufeng Ren, deputy governor of Jiangxi Province, Jianguo Hu, chairman of Yichun Mining Co., Ltd., and Yunzhou Fang, chairman of Hozon New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd., attended the signing ceremony. Robin Zeng, chairman of CATL, delivered a speech via video, and Ping Li, vice chairman of CATL, witnessed the signing ceremony.

According to the agreement, CATL will build a new lithium-ion battery production base in Yichun, with an area of 1,300 mu (around 87 hectares) and a total investment of about 13.5 billion yuan (around 2.1 billion USD), which will further improve CATL’s production capacity layout and meet its  future business development needs.

On July 30, CATL signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Jiangxi provincial government and the Yichun municipal government in Nanchang. Signing these agreements marks a solid step forward in the cooperation between CATL and Yichun city, and is also an important initiative for CATL’s whole industrial chain development. In the future, CATL will give full play to its industrial advantages, assisting Yichun to build a new energy industrial cluster, and contributing to the city as a low-carbon pilot zone in Jiangxi Province.
