On October 24, CATL and EACON Mining Technology Co., Ltd. (EACON) held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony in Ningde, Fujian. The parties will focus on electric autonomous mining scenarios and conduct in-depth collaboration across multiple dimensions, including capital, technology, market, and ecosystem, jointly promoting the transition and upgrade of the mining industry towards green, intelligent, and efficient development.

This cooperation between EACON and CATL marks that the construction of electric autonomous mining has gradually stepped into the fast track of large-scale and industrialized development, moving beyond the previous technology verification phase. The parties will integrate core capabilities such as power batteries, intelligent manufacturing, autonomous driving, and "vehicle-road-cloud" integration to jointly address key challenges in mining areas, including extreme working conditions, high safety requirements, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). They will provide scalable and replicable systematic solutions for the industry.

The cooperation between the parties will focus on the following aspects:
Joint R&D of Battery Technology: Based on EACON's operational data from over 20 mines, the parties will jointly develop next-generation dedicated batteries suitable for extreme working conditions such as alpine and high-altitude environments.
Joint Creation of Mine Benchmarks: Relying on the mining resources of CATL and its partners, they will jointly build a safe, efficient, and replicable unmanned transportation model project for open-pit mines, and gradually promote it to new mining areas.
Joint Expansion of Global Markets: After completing the verification of various application scenarios in China, the parties will jointly promote the "new energy + autonomous driving" integrated solution to the global market and participate in the establishment of international green mining standards.
As of September 2025, the number of electric autonomous mining trucks put into operation by the parties had exceeded 2,000 units, with a cumulative operating range of over 65 million kilometers. Large-scale applications have been realized in multiple types of mines, including coal mines, metal mines, and limestone mines. In the future, through in-depth integration and complementary capabilities, the parties will jointly usher in a new era of mine operations centered on green energy and intelligent driving.
