On September 19, 2025, CATL officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Mainling city of Xizang. The two parties will establish in-depth cooperation in fields such as "energy storage integration for new energy projects, supporting hydropower industries, and zero-carbon industries," actively responding to the national "dual-carbon" goals to create a demonstration benchmark for clean energy on the plateau.

Focusing on Three Key Areas to Drive Green Transition on the Plateau
With the full-scale commencement of the hydropower project in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, CATL will leverage its technological and industrial advantages to support Mainling in building a high-quality clean energy base. The two parties will prioritize the following collaborations:
Clean Energy System Development: Centered on major regional hydropower projects, exploring multi-energy complementary systems integrating "hydro-wind-solar-storage" to establish a demonstration model for large-scale clean energy development on the plateau.
Urban Zero-Carbon Infrastructure Construction: Deploying charging and swapping networks to promote the electrification of local transportation, accelerating urban zero-carbon infrastructure development, and building green energy consumption systems;
Industrial Synergy and Ecosystem Co-creation: Based on technology feedback and localized cultivation, deepening the integration of new energy industrial chains with ecological economies to support high-quality development in Mainling.

Green Technology Empowerment: Creating an Industry Benchmark
Yan Shihui, Party chief of the city, stated that this strategic cooperation aims to combine strengths, fully utilizing Mainling's abundant resource and market advantages and CATL's leading core technological expertise. With the advancement of cooperative projects such as zero-carbon industry construction, energy storage technology application, and green economic development, the partnership will introduce globally advanced industrial elements and development experience to Mainling, providing robust support for the city's subsequent industrial upgrading and high-quality development.
This collaboration will serve as a starting point for the parties to jointly establish a model of coordinated "ecosystem + technology + industry" development. While ensuring stable operations in high altitudes, the partnership will advance plateau zero-carbon practices from vision to reality, ensuring support for regional major projects and contributing green momentum to China's green development.
