CATL and Zhejiang Seaport Group Join Forces to Promote New Energy Solutions in Port Logistics

2025-06-27

On June 25, CATL and Zhejiang Provincial Seaport Investment & Operation Group Co., Ltd. (Zhejiang Seaport Group) signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Ningde. The two parties will focus on low-carbon port and industrial park development, the electrification of both ships and port machinery, heavy-duty truck charging and battery swapping, warehouse logistics, and battery recycling. Together they will explore and practice the "industrial new energy transition" path in the port logistics field, facilitating the intelligent and green transformation of ports.

CATL will leverage its technological strengths as a zero-carbon technology company to provide comprehensive solutions for the ports under Zhejiang Seaport Group. In terms of the construction of low-carbon ports and industrial parks, both parties will explore and secure new energy projects such as distributed photovoltaic power generation, port energy storage and energy digital management. Regarding ship and equipment electrification, both parties will promote technological exploration and project cooperation of green smart ship applications, green ship charging and battery swapping networks, and pilot green ship routes. The two companies will also co-build pilot projects on the electrification of short-haul shuttle vehicles within the port and the main line transport outside the port, aiming to create an integrated ecosystem for charging and battery swapping that connects vehicles, stations, and batteries. Moreover, both parties will deepen collaboration on warehouse logistics and the recycling network for retired batteries, supporting the zero-carbon transition of Zhejiang Seaport Group.

In addition, the two parties are further exploring broader cooperation opportunities, including developing low-altitude economy solutions based on port operations and gradually expanding into Zhejiang Province's low-altitude economy operation sector. Moving forward, CATL and Zhejiang Seaport Group will jointly establish an industry benchmark for intelligent port upgrades driven by zero-carbon technology, accelerating the industrial transition to new energy and contributing to global energy transition and the achievement of carbon neutrality goals.
