All of CATL’s EV Battery Brands Pass the Certification of New National Standard

2025-05-10

On May 9, the CATL Qilin Battery, Shenxing Superfast Charging Battery, Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery, Choco-Swap, and a battery pack designed for autonomous driving all received the testing report of GB 38031-2025 Electric Vehicles Traction Battery Safety Requirements (New National Standard), making CATL China's first company who sees its entire mass-produced battery portfolio across passenger and commercial vehicle sectors pull off such a feat.

The New National Standard will officially come into effect on July 1, 2026. Developed from the user's perspective, it encompasses a broader range of typical scenarios related to battery safety in new energy vehicles.

As the world's first LFP battery that strikes a balance between superfast charging capability and long range—setting a new industrial benchmark in balancing fast charging and safety redundancy, the Shenxing Battery proves its reliability in superfast charging scenarios with its outstanding safety performance. Being the first-ever battery in China specifically designed for hybrid models that has passed the New National Standard testing, Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery offers a solution featuring high efficiency and excellent safety for such vehicle models, a market segment that will see more progress at faster pace thanks to the launch of Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery.

Choco-Swap is China's first standardized battery swap brand that has passed the New National Standard testing. As one of few battery solutions in China compatible with multiple car brands and vehicle models, it will expedite the embedding of high-standardization and high-safety practices into the battery swap sector, enabling the adoption of battery swap technology across more vehicle models and offering users a highly efficient "swap-and-go"  energy replenishment experience.

Previously, the battery packs of the CATL TECTRANS-B (Bus Edition), TECTRANS-H (Heavy-duty Commercial Vehicle Edition), and TECTRANS L-Series (Light Commercial Vehicles Edition), passed the New National Standard testing at multiple authoritative third-party testing institutions, and are the first EV batteries in China to meet the requirements of the New National Standard, setting a new safety benchmark for commercial vehicle batteries.

From passenger vehicles to commercial vehicles, all of CATL's mass-produced battery brands now comply with the new safety standards. CATL is advancing the industry towards higher safety benchmarks through diversified technical pathways, providing strong and reliable support for the global transition to new energy.
