CATL is a non profit membership organization whose goal is to provide support for people who either own or are interested in Texas Longhorn cattle. Active membership is open to anyone who owns at least one breedable Texas Longhorn animal which is registered with the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America. Associate (non voting) memberships are available to those who do not own any Texas Longhorns but are interested in preserving the unique heritage of the breed and its link with the history of America.
CATL sponsors at least one statewide show each year as well as several other gatherings where members can get together socially and enjoy their common interest in these magnificent purebred animals. The annual world qualifying show is typically held in Plymouth, California (in the gold country) in April or May of each year.
In addition to the world qualifying Gold Country Show in Plymouth, CATL also supports several other shows each year. Members are invited participate in the Nevada State Fair, the California State Fair and the Pomona County Fair, all held in August or September. Also, we have added the Cow Palace ih San Francisco to our list. This is a world qualifying show held in late October or early November.
CATL holds an annual meeting each year on the first Saturday of November. The location of the annual meeting typically changes each year, but an attempt is made to make it as convenient as possible to members in both northern and southern California.
