About Us

The California Association of Texas Longhorn Breeders (CATL Breeders) was formed to recognize and protect the unique heritage of this magnificent American breed of cattle and to promote public awareness of its traits here in California. To accomplish this we sponsor several competitive Texas Longhorn shows as well as encourage our member breeders to exhibit their cattle in other shows and fairs, such as the California State Fair. The association sponsors auction sales from time to time which encourages new breeders to build a herd, even if only several animals in size. Social events and seminars give our members a chance to mingle and talk Longhorns, learn care and feeding practices, as well as branding and vaccination requirements. Members are kept informed of events and news via emails. CATL supports and sponsors a youth program to help youngsters raise, train, and show Texas Longhorns. As an affiliate of the Texas Longhorn Breeders of America, our not-for-profit association encourages members to register their cattle with TLBAA.
